On 1st July 2009 the Nabagereka of Buganda Her Highness Sylvia Nagginda officially opened up the one week tourism exhibition. The long awaited expo consisted of quite a number of exhibitors who displayed various products to the public, ranging from art and craft items, items of clan decency and manufactured products among others.
The exhibition was carried out in Mengo along the Royal mile, inside Bulange and the kabaka’s palace. It was a creative lifelong display with a variety of items ranging from home utensils, cultural wear, entertainment and fashion show among others. Like never before, the number of participants rose by 68% from 120 of the previous year to over 205.
There were over 2,832 entries of items showcased on over 120 booths. About 1,520 items were diplayed for the first time. Among the most eye-catching was a ‘five-legged cow’ which came from Ssingo.
On the 3rd day of the expo the tempo rose with an interesting entertainment from artistes and schools including Buddo SSS, Lubiri High, Nabweru parents primary school and H.E Bobi Wine among others. This was later on followed by an increase in participants and exhibitors.
